In order to pay for their $2.5 trillion-dollar health care bill, Senate Democrats would raise the Medicare payrolltax on American families earning more than $250,000 ($200,000 for individuals) to 3.4 percent. This new taxrepresents a fundamental change in how Medicare taxes have traditionally worked and makes a bad bill evenworse.
