How does DocShots work?
Following sign-up via the Get DocShots page, we provide you with a short snippet of Javascript code. From there, it's as simple as cutting & pasting the code into your website or blog. This code recognizes any posted documents (.doc, .pdf, .ppt, .xls) and converts the files into our feature-rich viewer for presentation on your site. The first visitor to hover on a given DocShots link may experience a 2-4 minute delay as the conversion takes place in real-time. All subsequent views will occur instantaneously. See DocShots Video.
Where do I place the code?
Insert the DocShots code into the bottom of your site's html pages. Paste the code just above the closing </body> tag. If you are a Website or CMS, we suggest you place this code into your Master or Template Page. See DocShots Video.

I use Docstoc's embed feature to share documents via my website or blog. What is different about DocShots?
Using our Embed is ideal for when you want to feature a document within an article/site. For instance, a story about a legal case may include an embed of a particular court document. DocShots,on the other hand, is a hoverable link that enables a new overlay window to open and close. It offers website and blog owners a new option for sharing documents without consuming site real estate. DocShots, for example, is perfect for sharing Press and Investor Relations documents, as it allows readers to scroll over a list of links and quickly preview and download the related content.
Embed and DocShots have differing presentation styles but both were created to provide website publishers with a better way to share documents and website visitors with a better way to preview and download documents.
What if I have implemented DocShots on my site and want to embed a document. Can I do both?
Yes. You simply embed the document of choice as you normally would. Not familiar with our embed feature? Visit Embed Documents with Docstoc to learn more.
Will DocShots work if our documents/files are sitting on servers that are behind a Firewall or on a testing environment?
No. In order for us to convert your documents into our feature-rich viewer your files and documents must be accessible from the outside.
